Pre-Paid Limit Raised

Up until now, if a plan member was involved in a self-defense shooting, the first $5,000 of legal defense attorney fees was covered by the plan. Though we feel this is enough to cover all the fees in 99% of cases, we have decided to double this coverage. We will now cover up to $10,000 in attorney fees. This would cover all fees in all but the most drawn out of criminal cases, and hope it gives our members a little more peace of mind.

Once you fill out and send in the electronic form, we will send you your checklist wallet card in a new-member packet.

New Gun Laws

As of August 15, 2010, the following laws went into affect. It’s mostly good news, thanks in no small part to the Louisiana Shooting Association (LSA):

Valid Concealed Handgun Permit holders may enter the 1,000’ “firearm-free” zone around schools but must still remain off of school property.
Concealed Handgun Permits now last for five years for $125.00.
Concealed Handgun Permits allow to carry concealed handguns in churches but only if the holder individually is granted permission by the governing body of the church to carry concealed, and they receive eight hours of “tactical training” each year.
You may possess or transport a firearm in a state park, state historic site, state preservation area, wildlife management area or wildlife refuge.

NFA Gun Trusts

In association with David M. Goldman, the Gun Trust Lawyer, we provide NFA Trusts for Class III weapons and items. This trust is superior to many generic trusts that are available elsewhere for the following reasons:

The ability to tell your representatives how to properly transfer these assets upon your death;
The ability to transfer assets to children even below the age of 18 at a later time while giving the trustee the ability to look at the child’s mental state, physical location, and age in addition to whether the child is legally able to own, possess, or use the firearms;
The ability for the Trustee to refuse assets transfered by will or other means if NFA and state requirements are not complied with;
Requirement to comply with NFA and State laws for transfer of NFA related assets;
The ability to make uneven distributions to heirs to conserve value of assets;
The ability to purchase Title II weapons, without creating a violation of the duties of the trustee;
The ability to use the weapons in the trust without creating liability to the beneficiaries;
The instructions and formalities on how to: manufacture items under a Form 1, how to purchase items correctly under a Form 4, how to properly document and transport Title II firearms with a Form 20.
Protection for yourself and your family from Constructive Possession – a violation of the NFA.
The ability to add others to your trust at a later time and create additional authorized users of the firearms.
